Featured Video: Koenigsegg Agera R

Some may recall the frightening-quick lap the Koenigsegg CCX put down at the Top Gear test track back in 2007 – which nearly killed the Stig in the progress ( if he could actually die). Well the consensus on Koenigsegg has been that they make an animal of a car that was not a bad way to propel yourself over 250 mph and scare the bejesus out of you in the process. The CCX would leave you begging the car to spare your life just for another moment to continue to experience the savage speed and theatrics of the car.

Cut to this new (to the US shores) Agera R and we find the same maniacal soul of the old CCX with a 273 mph top speed, nearly 1,200 hp, and enough torque to rotate the earth. In the video below we also find out that the engineers have found a way for the car to be incredibly tame at speeds and kept the car in line over 100 mph. This helps keep the driver in control under severe steering corrections and ensure that all that power keeps you headed through the apex instead of launching you and a tub of carbon fiber into an orphanage that – for some reason – chose a poor plot of real estate (click here to learn more about it) near the track.

See what I mean in the video below and also watch near the end for the super uncomfortable laughs as the Swedish test driver does his best to catch the female passenger off-guard and slaw her head into the carbon door.
