Notes:
Heads up crash warning annoying
the system actually has four stages. The first stage is a red blinking symbol. That is simply a friendly reminder that you are following too closely. The second stage gets activated if the car in front of you suddenly slows down or you are closing in fast and a collision is imminent unless you step on the brakes or drive around the obstacle. At this stage an audible ping comes on along with a more prominent warning in the DIS. Also, the ABS primes the brakes to take any slack out of the system and basically prepares for an emergency braking maneuver. If you still don’t react by this time, the system quickly taps the brakes to wake you up. If you still don’t react it goes into full on automatic emergency braking. In the MMI you can disable the warnings or automatic braking or both to disable some or all of these stages.
