I’ll start by saying that I actually own the particular 2017 BMW i3 REx referenced in this review. However, I will try and be as unbiased and practical in my comparison between these two EVs. Besides, there are many more complaints you discover about a car when living with it from day to day than you do in a week.
2017 BMW i3 REx Long Term Review
On that note… let’s start with some general complaints about my BMW i3 REx. First, the interior is made of eco-friendly materials that leave many passengers confused. My i3 is the lower “Deka World” trim with blue and grey cloth interior. The seats are comfortable, interior dash trim is stylish, but some of the composite materials and door panel cloth is strange. I’ve heard descriptions such as “rat hair” or “cardboard” to describe portions of the inside of my car. Outside of the raw and renewable materials, the dash tray space, glove compartment, center console, and side door compartments offer a ton of storage for a small space. I tend to think the exterior and interior design are “funky” and “cool” but there are some aspects that could be better in a $50k car.
