2019 Lexus RC F 10th Anniversay Edition Review: Cool, But Not Rad

2019 Lexus RC F 10th Anniversary Review 005

The 2019 Lexus RC F 10th Anniversary Edition has everything that a modern sporting coupe should have. It features an aggressive spindle grille, sharp LED lights in the front and rear, a 467-horsepower V8, an “F-Adaptive” variable suspension system, and trendy matte gray paint. Hell, it even has bits of carbon fiber strewn throughout the interior to make sure you know this is a proper performance vehicle.

While the 1992 Lexus SC 400 sits at the very opposite end of the sporting coupe spectrum from its now-distant relative. With its rather plain, smooth styling that was shaped by hand, miles of leather inside a comfortable interior, and a whopping 250-horsepower V8. The SC 400 shocked the American public when it was released and helped Lexus gain market share in the crowded luxury segment.

We had the opportunity to drive the Lexus RC F to Radwood LA 2018, an event that celebrates the forgotten cars, and quirky culture, of the 80s and 90s. There we would find a pristine Lexus SC 400 and begin to juxtapose the two Japanese cars against each other and gain perspective on the past 27 years. Has the Lexus brand lost what made it rad? Or is this large and loud RC the way of the future?
